Today was swimming lessons, she got her strokes award levels 9 and 10! We were also able to move her to the next class up, Junior Coaching. Unfortunately, the Thursday class is still fully booked but there was a place for a Saturday, Sunday or Wednesday night instead. We went with the Wednesday night as we are always busy on weekends. We were lucky enough to move Roman's class to a Wednesday too saves going two days running. Only bad thing is the hour gap in between their lessons, no time to go home and back so will be hanging around for an hour :-(
It will be very strange now to have our routine for the past six a half years changed - since January 2007 she has had swimming lessons on Thursday nights and now next Thursday night will be the last one :-(
Anais had her violin grade 1 exam. I think that I was more nervous than she was, she took it all in her stride. Whatever happens she knows we are very proud of her, she has achieved a lot!
In year four music lessons are part of the curriculum. In Anais school the choices are violin or cello, Anais chose the violin. In years five and six it is optional, Anais said she would like to continue to learn. In September 2011 when she had started in year five her music teacher asked if she would like to join the local orchestra, the orchestra was made up of school children from different schools. Anais was the only person from her school who chose to go, so she was totally alone and had to make new friends there. She has been going to the orchestra for two years now and enjoys it lots. She played two concerts last year, one concert earlier this year and did a solo at the concert last night (she didn't even know she had to do a solo until we got there). Earlier this year her music teacher asked if she would like to put in for her grade 1 exam and Anais said yes - today was the day!
Whatever happens, she has achieved a lot already - only person from her school to do orchestra, only person from her school to continue with optional violin lessons and she played a solo in front of an audience last night.
We are very proud of her!
Am not very good at crocheting things together, you would think it would be easy just to line the stitches up and hook but I can never get them very neat. It is all practice though :-)
