COUNTDOWN - 7 DAYS TO GO!
Lovely helpful HETAS man came out today to measure up and said all OK. Just have to have a gas engineer come out tomorrow and look at and quote for the capping and removal of an old gas pipe.
So as we had the green light I started wall paper stripping.
The fire will be opened up to the height and width of where the green and cream paint lines meet. They will then sweep the chimney and go on the roof to fit a chimney liner and connect it to the chimney pot. Fireproof board will be used to line the chamber, black slate will be used for the hearth and a distressed oak beam will be used as a mantle.
We also need to sort out a TV unit as we will no longer be able to have the TV on the wall.
I am grateful that when we decorate this time around we have the conservatory to use as a separate room with TV, sofa and table and chairs in there. We can live out there while the lounge is in such disruption.
Will leave you with a "before" photo and an "at the moment" photo. Fingers crossed if everything goes OK, this time in SEVEN DAYS we will have a beautiful real log burning stove installed! Very, very happy and excited!
Before.......
(Love heart to cover our names and DOB's from last time we decorated and grafitti'd the walls! Wonder what else we will uncover!)
Forgot to add - the lovely HETAS man also emailed us 5 pages of information regarding which wood is good to burn, suppliers of logs, chimney sweeps and information on different fuels. He also emailed us this PDF book "All you needed to know about wood burning stoves" which I have put on my Kobo and is my bedtime reading for tonight!
