Pickering station is approx 45 minutes away and we had timed it that we would get on the 9.25am train. We got stuck behind a rubbish truck going up Sutton Bank and got there later than we would have liked. Jenny parked the car, we threw £5 parking money and Jennys car reg through the letterbox of the car park station and ran to the platforms. We had just enough time to pay for tickets, got on the train, shut the doors and the train drove off - we were only JUST in time!
We had almost three hours walking around Whitby then - we walked the 199 steps to the top to see the Abbey, had a walk around the shops and cobbled streets and had lunch overlooking the harbour.
Oh and Roman saw a sweet shop selling liquorice root in the window and wanted to try some (the stick in the photos) - it was horrible!
Back on the train to Pickering, we had a walk around Pickering town and came back to the cottage for tea.
We were later tonight so we are in the lounge now 8PM, blogging and game of pool first, then Anais and Roman are going swimming.
Thank you for a lovely day Jenny! xx
