Lots and lots done today......... papering.......painting...........floor laying............furniture assembling..............one half of Anais' bedroom done and put back together. We can concentrate on the other half now over the following week.
Chest of drawers and wardrobe assembled. Mark had to cut the lip off each piece of furniture so they fit exactly, its like they were made for the room.
It has almost been like travelling back through a time machine unpeeling all of the layers of wallpaper. When we moved in (almost 14 years ago to the day) the room was painted half orange and blue. We painted over that with yellow and purple, moved a sofa bed in there and computer desk and made it a study to house the huge desktop computer and separate scanner and printer. Lucy our cat used it as her room attacking the printer at every opportunity she could! Shortly after that we turned it into a single bedroom and knocked a cupboard down to turn the stair box into a bed, at this point the room was cream and red wallpapered to make it grown up and inviting. When Anais occupied the room aged two, we painted over the wallpaper with yellow and pink paint and did a stencilled pink paint border and Disney Princess border. Then, over the years it has been painted various shades of pink with various other border's, this time Anais said "NO MORE PINK!" So we left the colours and paper for her to choose.
It has brought back lots of memories unpeeling all of the layer's and remembering the room when we moved in, pre kids, Anais' room growing up and now Anais' grown up bedroom all of her choosing (and not a drop of pink paint in sight!)
When we got home Mark and Roman planted the seeds they brought on Friday. Roman wanted to have a go at growing something.
All of the things from Anais' bedroom have been dumped on the landing and in Roman's bedroom until her bedroom is straight. This evening she sorted all of her earrings out and we were surprised to see how many she had in various places.......... not one lost either!
