Finally, look how much the tomato plants have grown while we were away.
Roman has to go to school on Wednesday dressed as a Pirate. We have been googling and having fun looking for homemade pirate costume ideas and having a go at making one ourselves. I don't think we did too bad and Roman loves it! We have been butchering my wardrobe, tops that mom gave me (sorry mom! But they have gone to a good cause!). A black and white stripy top was cut just below the elbows, a red long sleeve top had the sleeves cut off and then cut along the centre at the front to create a waistcoat. We punched holes in the waistcoat with a hole punch and threaded string through! Mark used two old belts and belted them together as a sword bolster around his tummy and down his chest diagonally! Finally an old pair of school trousers was cut to just below the knee. All cutting was done with pinking shears to create a ragged effect. Every Pirate needs a compass! This Pirate's compass is actually a Mickey Mouse one from Disneyland Paris! Also, its actually not really a compass but a maze ball game! Roman is convinced its a compass though and so long as he's happy..... Mark made a sword and dagger with cardboard from the recycling box and as we haven't got any silver or gold paint to paint them I thought of using tin foil or silver duct tape to cover them. Mark had duct tape in the shed so he was able to cover them. We used a black top to cut a triangle out to make a bandana and eye patch. We also drew a moustache and beard on with eye liner! He didn't want to take it off for bed tonight and asked if he could wear it tomorrow when he gets home from school and on the weekend!
