More work done in the loft today. Mark took the last load to the tip and we have one load left to charity shop tomorrow. I am STILL bordering Sophie. I had a bath and left Anais and Roman to make a cake. When I came down they had even tidied the kitchen!
All 18 Lydia squares done, crocheted together and to Sophie. This evening I started the border. This evening Mark laid more boards in the loft.
I made a cake. This morning was English group. No crafts until next week. 4 Lydia squares made for Sophie. Roman has made me a blocking station. The basil and tomatoes are growing! This evening was swimming lessons.
Sophie's Universe is finished. I should have taken better photo's in the daylight but waited until Mark came home so he could take them with the better camera (2 years later and I still don't know how it works!). Lots of photo's in the slide show below. If I didn't mention already, this was made with scraps of leftover wool and "odd" balls! Now to make 18 squares and do a border to turn it into a rectangle. Also today the caravan was serviced.
Back to normal today.
Lots of housework done. Also a trip to the charity shop to donate more things. Just finished round 109 (of 113) of Sophie. This morning we popped to the shops to pick a few things up. I also picked up these battery powered fairy lights from The Works. Now it is warmer and we don't need to light Fred, I miss having the glow of a flame. I put the lights in Fred and it looked pretty when it went dark. They take two AA batteries. The rest of the day was spent doing jobs.
Mark re-sealed the worktop in the kitchen which had cracked when we took the old dishwasher out. This afternoon we started to sort the loft out again (we have fads!) - there is now 16 years worth of "stuff" up there! First things to go was the old baby clothes which had been stored in black bags. The bags were now badly degraded so the clothes were all more or less "loose" in the loft. We had a sort out - sentimental things to keep, clothes for charity shop, clothes for the clothes bank. We ended up with 1 bag of sentimental items (to go back in the loft), 2 bags of things for me to cut up and sew with, 2 bags for the charity shop and 10 bags for the clothes bank! Tonight I am feeling miffed. I completed round 104 of Sophie and started round 105. Round 104 wasn't right though, I couldn't get the stitches in row 105 to add up so I had to completely undo round 104 and 105 and I gave up for the night. I will start round 104 again tomorrow. Anais and Roman made a cake. I left them with instructions and Roman used the hand mixer by himself. Can't even remember where recipe originated from but its my fail safe works every time recipe! - 200g butter, 200g sugar, 4 eggs, 200g self raising flour. After lunch when the cake had cooled they also decorated it by themselves too. Anais made the sandwiches for tea and Roman prepared the salad. Sophie at approx 2pm. Sophie tonight. (Tomorrow to start round 96)
A relaxing day at home today watching films, playing games and making cards. Anais and Roman made these......... Swimming was quiet tonight so the teacher got Roman and one other boy to try for their 100 metre badges. Well done Roman! Sophie so far. Tomorrow start round 91!
I had the bright idea this morning to sand down and re-stain this bookcase. It took a LONG time to get all the layers of stain and varnish off and back to bare wood. I stained it with stain we already had in the shed which should have come out an "oakish" colour but when applied was as dark as the stain before. No TV today - we played games instead, Monopoly, Scrabble and Ker Plunk. Anais has been loom banding and Roman playing with Lego. Anais and Roman made a loaf of bread. Good job Mark phoned to check, swimming is still on tomorrow. This evening we weren't sure whether to go to the cinema or not being "Saver Tuesday". No-one could agree on a film we all wanted to see and as we had left it late most of them were fully booked anyway when we looked online. So, we hired a film instead - the new "Fantastic Four". I got stuck on a round of Sophie's written instructions and couldn't put the Youtube video on as everyone was watching the film. I gave up for tonight and will re-look at it tomorrow. The pretty flowers got too heavy for the bush and fell off. So I popped them in a bowl of water and they look pretty!
