We then went to Sizergh Castle.
This morning we got up and went to Kendal. Roman asked for lace up school shoes instead of the velcro fastening ones we bought him on Saturday. Anais saw some lace up ones she preferred too so we ended up exchanging both their school shoes. We then went to Sizergh Castle. We came back to the apartment for tea and went to ask about the lake cruises. Turned out it was the last evening cruise of the season tonight (they only run until 31st August and today is the last day!). We did the hour and quarter evening lake cruise which was a lovely evening. When we got back to the apartment tonight Anais and Roman made Mark a birthday cake for tomorrow.

This morning we got up early and went to Hill Top for when it opened at 10am. It was still busy and we had to queue to find a car park space and even then our timed tickets for the house were not until 10.50am. The same as in this blog post from February 2014 - Anvil Cottage as featured in "The Tale of Samuel Whiskers" The Post Box as featured in "Peter Rabbits Almanac" The Tower Bank Arms as featured in "The Tale of Jemima Puddle Duck". Tom Kittens Gate as featured in "The Tale of Tom Kitten" We visited the Beatrix Potter Gallery (not allowed to take photos in there). Pictures of Hawkshead and Esthwaite Water................ Coniston and Coniston Water........... Back for a walk around Bowness................. Back to the apartment for tea and then another walk around Bowness and Fallbarrow Park. Here is where the apartment is - on the Quarry Rigg shopping centre. There are two ways to get to the apartment, either by going up the steps to the side of the Peter Rabbit exhibition (opposite the John Peel pub) or the allyway down the side of the CO-OP. Bowness again this evening. Mark doing tricks with his camera. And again with Swan! How Fallbarrow Park has changed from when we first went (14 years ago!)
Egg and soldiers for breakfast. We made a picnic and went for a walk around Tarn Hows. Who said money doesn't grow on trees?!?! We saw this tree with hundreds of coins in it. After we walked around it, we went back to the car for the picnic and then sat by the water to eat our lunch. We then went to Grasmere. First trip, Gingerbread shop! We sat in Wordsworth Daffodil Garden to eat a piece and enjoy the views. We went for a walk around Ambleside................. ...............and stopped off at the viewpoint on the way home. Such a lovely day, just look at that view. This evening we went for a walk around Bowness and Fallbarrow Park again. Such a lovely evening.
We all slept well last night. This morning we went for a walk around Bowness and to feed the ducks. Followed by a trip and walk around Windermere. Back to the apartment we had cheese and crackers for lunch. This afternoon we went to Fell Foot Park. Absolutely love it here, so pretty and peaceful. We hired a row boat. Roman navigated, Mark rowed and Anais was mainly screaming "don't rock the boat, I don't like the waves (when the big boats went past) and we're going to drown". Good fun though! And ssshhhh, he wasn't supposed to but Roman had a go at rowing too and found it a lot harder than he thought he would! Gammon, new potatoes, brocolli, carrots and cheese sauce for tea. After tea we walked to Bowness, around Fallbarrow Park (its changed beyond recognition there now) and back around Bowness. Spotted in a cafe window in Bowness!
HOLIDAY REVIEW PAGE When Mark cleared the loft out earlier this year we found a book on the Lake District and said we really, really wanted to go back. So here we are! We stopped off at Old Rufford Hall (National Trust). We stopped off at KVillage in Kendal and bought Anais and Roman new school shoes each and Anais a new bag. We also went to Asda. Driving to Windermere, over the brow of the hill and........................ a quick glimpse of the lake...................that view chokes me up everytime! Into Bowness, we hired this apartment which is absolutely LOVELY. Here is the location which is EXCELLENT. We went for a walk this evening and there is a passage to the side of the CO-OP that leads to the apartment. First floor apartment (rattan table and chairs outside) Inside the apartment.................. After tea we walked into Bowness and bought some duck feed to feed the ducks.
We had a lazy pyjama day today.
The hoover broke - the pedal broke off, the pieces went inside the mechanism and broke the belt. Works in progress.................. New project on the hook................... This evening it stopped raining enough for Mark to do more work on the log store.
I had another sort out today - before the charity shop closed Mark took a LOAD of things from the cupboard at the top of the stairs.
Todays project - make some curtain tie backs using the 14 inch off cuts from the curtains I turned up on Saturday. I sewed some small curtain rings to the end of them to hold them to the hook on the wall. I am quite pleased with them, they turned out good!
This evening Mark made a start on the new log store. It might not look like much at the moment but in the end it will look better than a pile of leftover logs stored on the patio under a waterproof sheet.
Roman made a Youtube video today. We had to laugh though as Anais hijacked it - watch it until the end. She was trying to promote her own Youtube channel and asked everyone to go and check out "Anais Cratiest Days"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finished another Heidi Bears Happypotamous. No other news from today apart from Mark taking apart the kindling box ready to make another log store where the box currently is.
Mark's car had an interim service today and also passed the MOT, hurrah! He has had it for 12 months already next month.
Other than that we have had a quiet day in. I have been working on Happypotamous, Anais and Roman have been doing art and making Minecraft characters on pixel art. This evening Mark made more wine.
P.S. our home grown tomatoes taste very nice, sweet and juicy.
P.P.S. Almost forgot, we hired "Bridge of Spies" on Friday night. Really, REALLY good film!
