We got to town early expecting there to be traffic but there was none. As we were early I took the opportunity to go the the Library of Birmingham. I got out eight crochet books.
Today I had another go at amigurumi. I finished this bear tonight. Thanks mom and dad for the flowers and card. Anais had a concert tonight with the school orchestra. She played the violin today.

This afternoon was crafts. I started another amigurumi but haven't got got far with it today. Thanks mom and dad for taking Anais and Roman to their swimming lessons. A while ago I was nominated by Joy, the crafts tutor, for an "Outstanding Learner Award" and today was the awards evening. All personal things have been posted on Facebook but I had these lovely cards off Mark, Anais and Roman. We had "Congratulations" notices on the wall with our names and stories on. There was a photographer and I had my photo taken alone and with Mark (this might end up in a prospectus next year or the year after). We had a drink and cake and then the awards started. Apparently there are 15,000 adult learners in Birmingham. I was one of 27 winners!
I had a certificate and this pen which Roman has taken a shine to. I went out of my comfort zone today and had a go at amigurumi. Pattern from an old craft magazine. It turned into a teddy bear! I am pleased with the stitches, they are nice and tight and no stuffing comes through. Once again though I feel my sewing skills need to improve, it is not very neat where joined to the body (hence the ribbon around the neck!) Anais went to orchestra after school. Anais' finished bracelet. Anais undid the knitting she had started (ages ago!) as she said it wasn't very neat. She restarted it again. Roman has been doing sewing at school today and wanted to have a go when he got home. I gave him some wool and felt. He was very patient, worked very hard and was proud of this. He wanted to know what he could use it for. I suggested putting a zip in it and making a pencil case or using it as a place mat. He said a pencil case so when he went to bed I got the sewing machine out. I had to fudge it as there was not much felt to do a proper seam allowance and turn the right way. I hope he likes it when he wakes up tomorrow!
Nobody wanted to get out of bed today, we were all tired and still are.
Lots of washing, drying and ironing for me today. I didn't blog over the weekend as the wifi was slow in the hotel and we got back late last night. Today I updated Saturday and Sunday and the Lego Windsor page here. There are also some videos uploaded to Facebook, Roman went to cricket club after school. This evening Mark mowed the lawn. Anais made a ring and pendant for a bracelet out of shrinkies.
We were up early this morning and all enjoyed a lovely breakfast. The hotel room(s) were lovely bright and spacious.
We got to Legoland approx 9.30am.
It was nice and sunny today but a lot busier than yesterday. The rides we did today were - Driving school (for Roman) Boats Squid Surfers Fire Station Raft racers Rapids Mini Land Fairy Tale Brook Sky Ride 4d Movie - "Nexo Knights" Rapids (2nd time) Loki's Labyrinth Rapids (3rd time) Rapids (4th time) Mini Land Windsor Castle (on way home) We came off the last ride (rapids) at 6pm as the park was closing. We were back to the car for 6.20pm but didn't leave the car park until just approx 7.15pm as it was so busy. We went to Windsor for a McDonalds but couldn't park in the high street so I had to run in. We also stopped off at the services on the way home. We finally got home just before 10pm.
Windsor Castle..................
We left at approx 7.30am and got to Legoland for approx 9.30am.
Rides in the order we did them - Star Wars Experience Rapids Spider Log Flume Dragon Roller Coaster Mia's Riding Adventure (Lunch by the lake) Atlantis (submarine) Boat School Raft Racers Raft Racers (again!) Rapids (second time) Rapids (third time) Legoland Mini Land 4D cinema "The Lego Movie" Sky Rocket thing Rapids (fourth time) Small Pirate Ship Legoland Mini Land (again) First thing we did was the Star Wars Experience where we saw the model of the new Death Star (video below). There was no queue for the rapids so we did that next. It started to rain when we got on the Spider ride but only a light shower. We decided as we were wet we would do the log flume ride and by then it had stopped raining. It was lovely and warm and sunny at lunch time so we ate lunch by the lake and then went to queue for the Atlantis ride. While we were in the queue there was a HEAVY rain shower and we got absolutely SOAKED this time. We said we would go back to the car for our coats but as we were passing the boat school there was no queue so we all had a go on a boat. As we were passing the raft racers we said as we were wet we might as well go on the raft water slide and ended up going on it twice, followed by the rapids twice. No-one wanted to waste time going back to the car after that so we carried on drying off as the sun came back out and the rain eased off. We did the Miniland followed by a 4D movie of "The Lego Movie". Everyone went on the Space Tower while I looked after the bags (too high for me!). We did the rapids for a fourth time followed by the mini Pirate Ship as there was no queue and did Miniland again on our way out. It took almost 45 minutes to leave the car park this evening. We went to Tesco to get some bits for tea and ate it in the hotel room. We had pre made sandwiches, cheese and crackers, pringles, egg bites, potato salad and coleslaw. We had a box of chocolates to share for pudding as no-one wanted any of the cakes, we were too full. We were awake for some of the night to watch the results of the Eu referendum come in.
Shopping this morning and housework this afternoon. This evening we went to the Symphony Hall to go and see Roman singing with his school and it really was lovely. Well done Roman, it was beautiful!
Roman's school was closed today for voting. We went to the cinema to see the new X-Men film.
The rest of the day was spent pottering around at home. Roman played on the X-box and Anais made a Lego piece and a Lego figure out of polymer clay.
This morning was English group (the last one too) and this afternoon was crafts. I was looking into making a patchwork and crochet quilt like this (image from here). This evening Anais and Roman had swimming lessons.
I finished my "Call the Midwife" blanket. The page for this blanket is here. Stats - 243g of Patons Knit & Save Brushed DK (two and a half 100g balls) 4mm hook 7 blocks wide by 12 blocks high (pattern is only for 10 blocks high, I added an extra 2 rows of blocks) double V stitch border (3 rows deep) Close up of the border........... In action with buttons the Bear. A little "Thank You" for Anais' clarinet teacher for helping her pass her audition and getting into the wind orchestra. Roman went on a school trip to West Midlands Safari park today.
