We are back home again now after a lovely week away. It was raining when we got up this morning. We packed everything away and went to feed the donkeys one last time. See them? No? They were at the other end of the field taking shelter from the rain under the tree's. As it was raining we weren't prepared to walk down the lane today to the other end of the field to see them. Bye cows! Cassie and caravan ready to go home. The new kettle we bought while we were away. The other one broke on Sunday 26th April! We have been using the one out of the caravan since then. Crochet blanket, 27 rows done while we were away. 69 rows done in total - 15 rows to go. Roman did this crochet in the car coming home. While we were unpacking and Roman was watching Power Rangers, Anais made these cakes by herself.

We had a lovely last day today, it was lovely and sunny this morning so we took the awning down first thing. We then went to Sand Point and had a walk 1.1 miles down Sand Bay and then back again. As it wasn't so windy today we stopped off at Weston Super Mare and had a walk around there too. We had a final walk around Burnham too. Back to the caravan for a BBQ tea - we then went to feed the donkeys and for a walk.
Very heavy rain this morning, we were in no rush to go out, we left approx 10.30am this morning. First we went to Street where we got Roman some new trainers as his had broken. Anais bought some head phones and I had a 2 pack of Christmas tea towels from the Next outlet store for £1! From there we went to Wells and luckily it had stopped raining. From Wells we went to Cheddar. From Cheddar we went to Weston Super Mare - we had a walk around the town and a very brisk walk on the beach as it was so windy. We were back to the caravan for 6.30pm, had tea and went to feed the donkeys. Roman's picture..........
This morning we went to Tyntesfield (National Trust). From there we went to Clevedon Court (also National Trust). It is only open at certain times as the family still lives in the house. What was this box used for? The baker used to leave bread to rise in it overnight. He used to put a tin plate on top of each loaf. When the tin plate fell off each loaf they would fall to the floor making a noise! The baker would then know it was time to get up to bake the bread! Early examples of Elton Pottery, from this...................... ....................to this. From there we had a walk around Clevedon town and Clevedon beach............... Back to the caravan for a BBQ dinner and walk to feed the donkeys. Also pictures of cute calves outside the caravan xx
We had a lovely day today, thanks Gary and Stacey for having us, Anais and Roman really enjoyed themselves and so did we! A nice few hours on the beach, Roman enjoyed playing with the boys and Anais loved cuddling Lexi. Dinner in the pub was delicious and the kids enjoyed their ice-cream afterwards and playing in the arcade too. xx
The weather has been lovely today and we have been out all day - it has been a long day - we have made the most of it. First stop was Dunster Castle and a walk around the little village. From the village we walked to the water mill. We were lucky to be given a guided tour around the mill by one of the volunteers who could see we were interested in it. We bought some flour on the way out to take home and make bread. From the water mill we drove to Minehead. We parked up, had an ice-cream, went to see the steam train and walked to the harbour and back. After Minehad we went to Watchett, parked up and had a walk around there too............... We were out this morning just before 10am and back for just after 6pm so it has been a long day. We had tea and only took a little walk to feed the donkey's tonight.
This morning we had boiled egg and soldiers again for breakfast. We made a picnic and went for a walk around Bridgewater followed by Coleridge Cottage (National Trust). After that we went to Fyne Court (National Trust). We followed the trail around and Anais and Roman played in the woods building dens and climbing tree's. We were back at Burnham for 3pm where we spent an hour on the very windy beach (it was much windier here than where we were this morning).
We came back and had an early tea 5ish and went to feed the donkeys at 6ish. We then went geocatching! It was our first time, we found the treasure, left some treasure and then went for a walk on the other side of the river. We walked for so long we walked to the town of East Huntspill, stopped in the pub for a drink and then walked back - we got back at 8.30 - we had been gone for 2 and a half hours. We saw deer!!!!!!!!!!! We had a nice day today. Everyone must have been tired from our long journey yesterday as we didn't get up today until 9.30am! We had boiled egg and soldiers for breakfast. It was raining this morning so first stop was Burnham to buy Anais some new wellies as her old ones had split - size 6 - same size as me! From Burnham we went to The Secret World where we saw badgers, a fox, peacocks, ferrets, beautiful owls We came back to the caravan for lunch and then went to West Huntspill Railway where Anais and Roman had a go on the little train and played on the park. A heron by the brook by the side of the caravan. This afternoon we went to Brean Down (National Trust). We each counted how many steps to the top. It took us 8 minutes to climb the 0.16 miles to the top! On the way up we counted - Roman - 221 Anais - 217 Me - 218 Mark - 216 On the way down we counted - Roman - 217 Anais - 217 Me - 218 Mark - 216 (When we climbed to the top of Brean Down and counted the steps last year!) We walked along Brean beach. Outside the caravan today - hello cow! Hello chicken! After tea we went to feed the donkeys............. ...............and went for a walk by the river. Still didn't find the piglets. Here are some chickens, sheep and a calf. This was lovely - Anais and Roman picked us some flowers, put them in a glass with water and left us a note! xx Mark paid for the club wifi today, although it is nice not having to worry about exceeding dongle useage uploading photo's is ssslllooowww :-( It is nice to have Absolute 80's on DAB though :-)
Stats - left caravan storage - 9.00am arrived - 1.30pm (approx) miles covered - 101.7 approx miles per hour - 23 There was LOTS of traffic even though we left early. It should have taken two and a half hours with no traffic :-( Our roof skylight above the kitchen somehow came undone and latched itself open on the widest setting while we were driving and luckily before we got on the motorway. It was closed when we left storage as we are meticulous about doing all our checks. We were waved at and flashed by several drivers but it didn't click with either of us that they were warning us until a motorbike overtook us waving and pointing at the roof. We then stopped and saw the roof vent was open, eeeek. Next time will take more notice when people wave or flash. Can only think it wasn't in the fully locked shut position from when we used the caravan last. We had lunch and put the awning up. Went for a walk around Burnham and then went shopping. Tea was a BBQ - burgers for everyone and roast peppers for me. After tea we went for a walk around the farm. We saw Jake, Mandy and Jinnie the donkeys, the sheep and pigs. We couldn't find the baby pigs so will go for another look tomorrow. It is beautiful walking down by the river. There are cows in the field next to us! Anais went on a geography field trip today to Shropshire - they looked at river studies - flow rates and depths. Roman had today off school for teacher training. We went to McDonalds for lunch and he had a double cheeseburger and large fries and ate the lot! This afternoon we made gingerbread and Roman cut them out using a heart, star and gingerbread man cutters. When they were cool he drizzled them with melted chocolate and eton mess sprinkles. Roman's collection of free Lego from the Daily Mail this week.
