Lots and lots of housework and boring stuff done today. Roman went to eco club after school. He planted seeds and brought one home. He also brought a plant home that they had planted previously. Mark's new t-shirt which came in the post this morning. This evening was college.
Today went too fast again (almost forgot to pick Roman up! 4pm felt more like 2pm!) Nine pages of homework done for college tomorrow along with two pages of learning objectives. I finished the crochet basket weave cushion - it is 12x12 "squares" and each side joined together with double crochet. I popped out and bought LOTS of icing (thanks Nicolette!) as we eat LOTS of cake! I bought a Christmas jumper £5 instead of £26!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anais went to film club after school. Roman went to science club and made a bouncy ball. Here is the tea bread they made at cooking club yesterday, they had made a cake each. Roman brought them home today. This evening was swimming lessons.
Anais' phone case broke. I took the chain off it and crocheted her another one using the last of the Boodles T shirt yarn and attached the chain strap from the broken case. Today went fast again. Sewing this morning - a change of plan though. No blinds this week, we had a go at patch work instead. I DO NOT LIKE cutting pieces out though, so time consuming, fiddly and mine are all wonky. These were cut out at 32cm by 12cm to account for a 1cm seam allowance on each side so the blocks when finished should be 30cm by 10cm - mine are all over the place. I finished this when I got home this afternoon, lined it and did stitch in the ditch along the seams - it is a scarf for Anais. I almost finished crocheting the other side of the cushion - just a few more rows to do and then crochet both sides together. Roman went to cooking club after school, Anais went to help. They made fruit cake but it wasn't ready at the end of the session so Roman is bringing it home tomorrow.
Mark got back 9.00pm. Today went too fast. This morning was shopping for Roman's birthday presents. This afternoon I did some crochet. One side of a cushion cover done so far........... ..........and started the second side. Close up's - it is very thick and textured. After school Anais went to orchestra and Roman went to cricket club.
Anais made carrot cakes in food technology at school today. It was nice to see Jenny this morning. This afternoon we went for another walk around the Lickey Hills, this time we started from Beacon Hill instead of the visitor centre. Mark's app said we walked 1.62 miles in 51 minutes - a fraction of what we did last weekend. This was all up/down hill and through the woods. Yesterday I made two of these squares using this pattern. I realised this morning though that they were way too small to cover a cushion as they are quite rigid and won't stretch........................ ................so I unpicked them both to start again. This is how far I have got so far. This evening we watched "Rock of Ages" - rubbish film but good music.
This morning we went to the cinema to see "Night at the Museum 3"
The rest of the day was spent at home - Anais and Roman did their homework. This evening we watched "Robocop".
Mark was in a meeting all day again today in London. No-one had any after school clubs today. I made a little crochet for back cards with the rest of the Boodles. I also made a Victoria Sponge cake and have tried a new crochet stitch out - basket weave, pattern from this blog. For anyone who wants to watch a good film watch "Lincoln" which we have watched over the past few nights as it is so long - excellent acting gave me goosebumps.
Nice and sunny today. I had a silicone mould delivered to make Lego icing blocks for Roman's birthday cake. I had a play though I need more practise with it as those pesky little round studs at the top kept losing their shape when I pushed them out. I thought it was about time I used up the blue boodles and found this bag pattern. The pattern used a small amount of yarn, even though it said two balls would be needed I still have lots left. It made this bag. Roman went to eco club after school. Tonight Anais has been marbelling. The past week has been a "should I? shouldn't I?"
After phoning up several times last Tuesday and Wednesday and e-mailing, someone finally got back to me on Friday to give me the information I needed.............. but by then I had already missed the first session on the Thursday night. After a week of mulling it over I decided to go for it and tonight was my first day back at college! A nice lazy day at home today. I finished my book. Very interesting. Mark was in the office all day. Anais went to film club after school. Roman went to science club after school. This evening was swimming lessons.
