We had an e-mail confirming the new dishwasher is coming tomorrow between 9 and 1 so Mark put the old dishwasher on the drive. It was taken away by the scrap men less than two hours later! Anais went to her violin day at Birmingham Conservatoire. The view of the old Paradise Circus. She was dropped off at 12pm and spent the whole day there. Mark made Jenny a cake stand but the drill bit went blunt very quickly so he was unable to do anymore. Roman did his homework. We started on Roman's outfit for World Book Day. The theme is a character from Peter Pan and he wanted to go as Captain Hook. Hair - the witches Halloween wig top - an old black top waist coat - an old red top cut down the middle. To stop it fraying (and if you check Captain Hook he has gold down the front of the waistcoat) I used gold Christmas ribbon and got the sewing machine out to sew it on. I also attached two gold buttons and a loom band hooked between them to keep the waist coat closed! hook - a pop bottle, card board and silver electrical tape bandana - an old top cut up sword - Roman's toy from Weymouth He loved it and wore it for Anais' violin concert this evening which (may have) attracted some strange looks! This evening we went back to Adrian Boult Hall for Anais' concert - she played the violin today and they performed three songs this evening.
This morning we went to Jenny's house.
This afternoon we went to the cinema to see "The Martian" in 3D IMAX. We thought Roman would love it as he is interested in space.......... ..................he felt sick after the trailers and wanted to leave. He didn't even see the first five minutes of the film and Mark had to take him outside as he was so disorientated and his legs turned to jelly. We won't bother going to see anymore 3D movies. Anais and I enjoyed the film though. We came home and watched "Inception" while we ate our tea.
Very pleased Cassie is fixed, serviced and passed the MOT. Love my little brum brum!
I made a vanilla and cinnamon swirl cake...................
...........................and a giant jaffa cake.
Roman went to football club.
This evening we watched "Philomena" - so, so, sad and moving. A boring day at home doing housework and ironing.
I downloaded a library book but it turned out to be a collection of short stories. After reading the first one I sent it back. Roman joined the before school football club which started today and had to be at school for 7.45am this morning. He also had basketball club after school today so didn't finish until 4.15pm - it was a long day for him. Anais went to a netball match after school. This morning was English group. This afternoon was crafts.
Well done to Roman who got moved up to the next class at swimming lessons. Instead of swimming the width of the pool across the deep end he will now swim the length of the pool. He is also in the pool at the same time Anais has her swimming lesson, so less hanging about for us too. New dishwasher is on order and being delivered on Monday. It can't come quick enough as I hate washing up and having dirty things lying around ready to be washed. Anais is now learning the flute and brought it home from school today. Also well done to Anais who had a good report at parents evening today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cassie failed her MOT on a CV boot and leaking fuel pipe. She is going to another garage on Thursday for repairs and back for a service and re-test on Friday. I made a honey and ginger cake. The dishwasher is broken :-( The light was flashing on the "delicate" program which according to the fault guide was to do with the circuit board. Mark took the front cover off and................... ....................burnt out wires. We need a new one. So many ends to sew in but.................... ...............my blanket is completed! The "Daisy" blanket - though as Roman thinks they look like fried eggs perhaps it should be called the fried egg blanket!?!?!? STATS - 56 daisy granny squares, pattern for squares found here daisy yellow and white centre's made using scraps pink granny squares - 3 x100g balls 3 rounds of granny per square 20 squares per 100g ball white outers - 1 round of granny in white 39 white outers per 100g ball of white all white outers, crocheted together and border done with x2 100g balls of white WEIGHT - 640g Anais went to orchestra, Roman's cooking club was cancelled.
Cassie was due an MOT today but due a to a mix up with the garage she is in tomorrow instead. Fingers crossed all goes OK. Anais was off school for teacher training today. We had planned on a baking day but as we had the car we went shopping instead and to McDonalds for lunch. Crochet project so far, so many ends to sew in and one more strip to crochet together. Spectre! We all sat down to watch this earlier.
We had a nice relaxing day at home apart from popping to Aldi this morning. Anais made cakes. Anais made soap. Roman made slime. Pretty daffs. Crochet project so far. All squares completed (56), now to crochet together, sew ends in and do a border.

We packed up, left early and was home for 11am. By 11.45 we were unpacked and on our way out shopping. The rest of the day was spent, washing, drying, ironing, watching films and having a rest. It was nice to be home and sit in front of a cozy fire. I made an apple pie. Latest crochet project so far.
