We spent it on the beach. Mark, Roman and Anais hired a pedalo.
What a lovely day, warm and sunny.
We spent it on the beach. Mark, Roman and Anais hired a pedalo.
After tea we took another walk into Weymouth. Mark mapped my walk, 3.65 miles, two hours.
Our Coastal blankets at the seaside.
22 squares done in total
Mark popped out this morning and came back with this! We've been admiring it since we got here on Saturday, it is in the premises of the building net door which is being renovated. He saw the builder and went to ask for it and the builder said yes. We are going to turn it into a little coffee table.
Cloudy and windy but dry this morning. We walked to Bowleaze Cove and had a look around the car boot sale. Mark bought a model, Anais bought some make up and Roman bought a keyring.
We walked back up the hill and went to Jordan Hill Roman Temple.
Photos of the walk back to the apartment.
Mark did a "Mapmywalk". Six miles over two and three quarter hours!
Back to the apartment for lunch, we then had a walk around Dorchester.
Followed by a trip to Max Gate, home of Thomas Hardy.
We stopped off at The White of Osmington on the way home.
Doing this weeks Coastal CAL in the car............
After tea we had another walk into Weymouth. We walked to down the high street, over harbour bridge, around brewers Quay, to Newtons Cove and around the old harbour where we went crab fishing. We caught four crabs. Then we walked back via the harbour and beach.
We estimate we have walked over ten miles today.
16 squares made so far................
It was wet, wet and wetter this morning.
We walked over to the cinema to see "Gnomeo and Juliet, Sherlock Gnomes". It was good but we thought the first one was better.
We came back to the apartment for lunch and then took a drive to Dorchester.
All the roads to Dorchester were gridlocked (don't know why) and after waiting forever in traffic we turned around and went to sit at Bowleaze Cove for a while.
Back to the apartment this afternoon to cook a gammon for tea.
This is the view from the lounge.
Tea was gammon, stuffing, mashed potato and vegetables.
After tea we went for a quick walk into Weymouth as it was spitting but we wanted to stretch our legs.
Up to ten squares done now.................
Two walks into Weymouth today.
When your favourite dragon comes on holiday with you!
We left at 8.20am and got here at 1.30pm. Bad traffic after Bristol. We stopped off at Hobbycraft Bristol and I bought this cake tin.
The apartment was not ready until 2.30pm so we went for a walk around Weymouth and the harbour. Anais bought some trainers from New Look and Roman bought a Disney Infinity character from CEX. It has been lovely and warm and sunny.
Weymouth is very busy. LOTS of people crab fishing in the harbour and lots of people on the beach and in the sea.
We saw this old Singer sewing machine at the shops. Roman said "Its a good job nanny isn't here or she would have bought it!"
Mark took this video of the apartment.............
Open the front door and you are in the kitchen which has lots of storage. In front of the kitchen is the living area with a sofa bed, two arm chairs and table and chairs.
The door off the kitchen leads to a little corridor..........
(The door at the back is locked and we don't know what is behind there!)
The first door leads to a bedroom. The beds are made up as singles but they can be configured to a double.
Finally, the bathroom is at the back of the apartment.
Every summer for the past four years I have made a crochet blanket. Then I have memories of that summer to look back on.
Summer 2014 was the flower and granny square blanket
Summer 2015 was the African flower blanket
Summer 2016 was Demelza
Summer 2017 was Persian Tiles
Summer 2018 is going to be another African flower square blanket using up all of these leftovers from previous blankets.
I managed to do these three squares in the car coming here. Memories so far are Roman and I singing to Queen - Don't Stop Me Now, Bohemain Rhapsody and The Show Must Go On with Anais yelling at us to shut up!
28.07.18 - 3 squares
Mark and I went shopping and we left Anais and Roman at the apartment.
Tea was cheese and crackers.
After tea we had another walk into Weymouth. It was quite chilly and we had a brief rain shower while we were out.
Walks into Weymouth today - 2.
Stavordale House page updated here.
This morning I went to an Instagram meet up which was very nice. Sarah made this cake, which was very nice. Must try it myself!
I got this far with another Road Trip Scarf.
This evening Roman had a swimming lesson.
We are back from a lovely four night away at Malthouse Farm.
It was so warm we didn't need to put the awning up.
Pictures of when we left this morning at just after 9am.
The caravan is back is storage and we were home just after 12pm. We were all unpacked, washing on and Mark doing his work by 12.30pm.
Coastal crochet is all up to date again. I caught up with Friday and Mondays rows.
Started way back in 2015 after I uploaded the African Flower blanket, I today finally updated my Ravelry page with all my crochet blankets! You can find me below!
A lovely day today.
We had a walk around Burnham followed by three hours on the beach. Anais and Roman built sand castles while we sunbathed and I crocheted.
The road trip scarf is finished!
X2 100g balls Stylecraft Cabaret
weight of scarf, 189g
weight of leftover yarn 9g
Lovely yarn to work with as it is so soft. Not nice to work with as the ball collapses on its self and I kept getting it tangled up. (Will add picture when have wifi).
We had a BBQ for tea and I had pasta and salad.
The couple who own the farm came to see us to apologise for any noise they may make at 3am when they get the cattle ready to go to market at Lincolnshire. They said there are owls nearby but we have not seen any.
I have added a page about Malthouse Farm where we have stayed.
Very warm but overcast today.
We got up and went to Dunster Castle.
Pictures of Dunster town and Watermill.
From Dunster Castle we went to Minehead.
Stopped off at Blue Anchor.
Followed by Watchet.
On the way back we stopped off at Bridgewater and Roman bought three books from W H SMith with his £10 book voucher (school physicist of the year winner) and £4 off his money from grandma and grandad. The books were on offer three for two and should have cost £21 full price.
When we got back we had a relax outside the caravan. It was warm and the wind had dropped. Pictures of the site and Millie the friendly cow dog. There are no sheep here but there are over 70 cattle and Millie rounds them up!
We still haven't put the awning up and doubt we will bother now. It is lovely and warm, we are not here in the daytime to use it and it is warm enough on a nighttime not to need it.
We had a nice lie in this morning and got up just after 9am. We made a picnic and had a walk around Weston Super Mare.
We had a picnic at Sand Bay for lunch.
We climbed to the top of Brean Down and then took Anais and Roman to the ice-cream shop.
This evening we had a BBQ for tea.
The moon tonight.
